    Description

Sarracenia 'Judith Hindle' is a classic Sarracenia
    cultivar
selected for its beauty and vigor.  The parents are two different clones of
    S. (purpurea x flava) x leucophylla.
Pitchers on 'Judith Hindle' open up green with beautiful white light windows on the lid.  As they age, the pitcher bodies become glowing red and eventually darken to deep plum.  'Judith Hindle' is a strong grower spring through autumn and maintains its pitchers well throughout dormancy if winter conditions are mild.
Sarracenia, also known as American Pitcher Plants, grow in boggy, open savannas in the southeastern United States.  For many years, misinformation spread that carnivorous plants were hard to grow or required very stringent horticultural requirements.  Fortunately, this couldn’t be farther from the truth! American Pitcher Plants are hardy temperate plants capable of being grown outdoors in nearly every state in the USA (some winter accommodation may be required for harsh northern winters and for desert summers).  Our plants grow outside in the burning Texas sun year round and have even taken cold fronts down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter with no ill effects.
The first 4 photos are from larger specimen plants. The remaining photos are representative of the plants that you will receive.  Note that since these are living plants that are continuously growing, there may be a small degree of variation (bigger or smaller) compared to the photos.  Growing instructions, pot and soil will be included in the shipment.
    We offer a
    live arrival guarantee
on all plants.  We reserve the right to hold plants if your temperatures in your area are outside the recommended range.  If temperatures are outside this range and you’d still like the plant shipped immediately, you can either waive the live arrival guarantee or opt for a cold/hot weather shipping kit (also available in our store).
The recommended plant temperature shipping ranges are as follows:
    Temperate plants (20F-100F)
If there are any plant health issues upon arrival, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt of the plant and provide photos.  We’ll quickly address any issues. Plants are shipped USPS.  Plants will be shipped unpotted with their roots wrapped in sphagnum moss unless otherwise indicated.  Plants are shipped to all 50 US States and Puerto Rico. International shipment of plants is not available at this time.
Note that Sarracenia are dormant from December to March and will appear dormant and not in active growth during these months.
Be sure to check out our
    store for
additional offerings.  We combine shipping for multiple plants purchased at the same time.
