Description

This is the newer version packaging, same quality as the older version, just fresher (better chance to see the moss getting revival when used for
carnivorous plants
potting, yes these dead moss can get back to life sometimes especially when they are fresh!)
This is the best potting media for most carnivorous plants. Especially for Venus Flytrap seeds germination and various Utricularia potting.
It can hold up a lot of water while still keeping enough air for plant roots.
Its anti-fungus nature can significantly suppress fungus from infecting seeds (Many times seeds germinated by peat moss mix failed due to fungus, which rarely happens with sphagnum moss).
For Utricularia, frequent dividing is required to keep the plant thriving. Cutting sphagnum moss is a lot easier than cutting peat moss mix. (Peat moss mix is loose and will fall apart when cutting, which will break Utricularia's fragile "root" system).
Proper hydration process for carnivorous plants:
Fully soak in distilled/RO filered/rain water for 1 hour. One brick turns into 8L moss, make sure to use big enough container and enough water.
Gently squeeze water out of the hydrated moss. Don't squeeze too hard to avoid breaking the fiber. Replace the water to soak again for 10 minus. This is to wash out the minerals.
Repeat step 2 one more time or test the squeezed out water to make sure it is under 50ppm (if you have a TDS meter).
Generally, if use distilled water (0ppm), one inital soak and 2 more washes can guarantee run off water to be under 50ppm.
