    Description

    These came out of a hand made castle owned by:
    Rev. Dr. Dorothea Ward Harvey, 1923-2010, was the first woman to be ordained in The Swedenborgian Church in 1972.
    A native of Philadelphia, Rev. Dr. Harvey attended Friends Select School from 1927 to 1939. She received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, after which she served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.
    Later she received her B.D. (M.Div.) in Old Testament from Union Theological Seminary in New York and her Ph.D. in Religions of the Ancient Near East from Columbia University. She did post-doctoral work at the American School in Jerusalem and Heidelberg University in Germany, and was on a Fulbright Study in India. She worked at Urbana University as teacher, chaplain and
    minister from 1971-1988, , who named the Chapel after she retired.
    The daughter of the Rev. Charles W. Harvey (
    the Swedenbourg Church at 24th and Chestnut streets)
    and Leslie (Carter) Harvey
    . John C. Harvey was her older brother, and became a famous stage set designer on Broadway.
